Therapy

Therapy in Romānia offers the following types of therapy:

Creative play skills
Before children can solve their problems they need to play. Many abandoned children and those from families in poverty do not yet know how to play. Therapy in Romānia's specialists will teach creative play skills to individuals and groups as well as to parents and carers who themselves have never learnt to play.

Individual therapy
Individual psychotherapy is provided for professionals and play therapy for children. Play therapy can include sandtray, puppets, art and drawing, and music.

Therapy for carers
It is an established fact that many people in the caring professions, including charity workers, put others' needs before their own. Yet to be fully effective carers need caring for. The Therapy for Carers groups run for one day a month and provide the chance for participants to deal with their own issues in a supportive, caring environment.

Play therapy groups
These groups are primarily for hard-to-help children who have often suffered major abuse or trauma. Charities and other groups are invited to submit the names of children for possibly joining the group. Professionals wanting to learn the skills of group work with such children are invited to become special group members. They will be provided with extra time at the beginning and end for supervision and discussion of the way the group is run.

Therapy marathons
Sometimes children with high levels of problems need concentrated therapy to help them deal with their issues. Therapy in Romānia has pioneered weekends of indoor and outdoor therapy under the title Terapie Intensiva. These weekends need a high ratio of adults to children and are ideal for trainee therapists to join the group in order to learn the needed skills.
